Reborn

More than a month without posting. And there is no crisis without a later renovation, no rebirth without a previous struggle.

It's true that I'm a bit stressed, I hardly find time for even just reading blogs, but in fact that's how I always am. I've been thinking about this and I believe the difference lays in the motivation.

I've already reached the goals I set for myself at the beginning of this blog - now I wear a style I like and mix and match more than two colors without fear. It's time for new goals. So...

New goals:

My body isn't general, it has a specific shape and length, some flaws and some strong points. I inted to find out what suits me best and worst, and do not choose pieces that I like but are unflattering for me.
I have a feeling that my wardrobe is a bit messy. I need to build a good basic wardrobe with just a few additional season clothes.

So that will be the agenda for the blog in the near future. Wish me luck in the search! :)

New trends

I've been intentionally skipping the "New collection" section in every shop since the sales began, as I can't stand looking at warm clothes when it's 35ºC at least outside, no matter how cold the air conditioner is configured... That's taken me to a feeling of disorientation lately, as I'm becoming aware that autumn is approaching (not that temperatures have dropped, it's just that I'm preparing the new year courses) and I can't figure out what's the current trend.

That's why I bought some fashion magazine this morning, and have been flicking through it during mealtime. I don't like studs, my body doesn't allow much volume, neither skinnies... that leaves me with some harem pants, whatever skirt I like and bold colours. I'm not a slave to trendiness, so that's enough for me :)

What are your thoughts on the new trends?

And now, what I promised: more black and blue (but not so dark):

The shoes were giving me a lot of pain until the day I decided I wouldn't wear them anymore... strange!

Changing my mind

Black and dark blue is a colour combination that I'd never dare to make a few years ago... Now I'm quite fond of it and lately I wear it a lot! As proof, what I wore some day last week:

It's a pity I didn't take a picture of the brooch, it hardly appears on the above one and it's a cute craft from my mum... Anyway, expect more black and blue soon ;)

Last spring I was longing for true heat and now I'm regretting such wish, this summer is being so hot that I nearly melt when I come back home in the afternoons!

Today was the day... I wasn't unwilling to go back to work, but the fact of being the only one was discouraging :(

What's more, the effort of putting together an outfit after a night of bad sleep seems worthless. I'm happy I could share it with my dear family afterwards, and now with you!

Yesterday night I had a dinner with friends from work. I arrived home at 2:00 a.m. (and I was the first to go home)... Today was a hard day.

Okay, it's not my best picture, as it's not my best outfit either... but today I took a detail picture of the shirt in compensation:

Today I was feeling blue... My boyfriend has parted to a children summer camp and I won't see him for a fortnight.

But you know, blue is also my favourite colour :) And maybe I can scape for the weekend to pay him a visit!

I've spent a lovely weekend in a surprise trip to Valencia. Awesome architecture, great beach and interesting museums (and lots of good food, too!). But the best part was my ever sweet boyfriend :)

Going back to reality was hard today. But this white skirt brightened up my day!

I've been searching and searching for a new pair of shoes. I want them mid-heeled, but all heels I've found are very high or otherwise look like mature lady shoes. At last I've found these:

They're OK in the sense that they're sandals, mid-heeled and incredibly comfy. They're not OK in the sense that they're not what I was searching for in colour and shape.

The question is, should I keep them?? What do you think?? Please help me decide!

The last days have been adorable, not too hot, not too windy... However, this afternoon wasn't hot enough to go to the swimming pool, so here I am posting what I wore this morning for going to church:

I love, love, love this dress. I'm afraid the picture doesn't show all its glorious perfection... Apart from being black and being floral, it's fine for all occasions and makes you look so pretty, that everyone compliments you all the time. As I said, perfection made dress.

Well, now there's just one thing missing -- holidays!

At last!

I've been through so much work that I didn't find the time or even the wish to post anything... And actually, there wasn't much of interest to be shown, as the stress didn't allow for much creativity!

While I'm still managing to bring my sense of style back, this is what I've been wearing all day. You can note in my pose how tired and hot I was after wandering all the evening long from shop to shop in the heat of these days!

This outfit gained me lots of compliments today :) I think it's because of the black color near my face, I'm so pale it flatters me a lot.

I've tried to keep reading blogs, but I hope I'll finally catch up with it within this month... See you in the comments, then!

Purified

I've been sick for some days. At first I was so weak I just slept for a whole day. Then I could only sit next to the balcony and look and hear. I knew I was fine again when I could enjoy Bride and Prejudice.

Though being sick is not funny at all, it did a lot of good to me: it provided me with time to pause, rest and free my mind of everything. Also time for being at home and receiving hugs and attention from my family. I wish I was sick every once in a while...

This is what I was wearing the day it all started (sorry for the poor pic again :S)

The turtleneck is light green and the pullover is brown, like the tights, though the light has played a bit with the colours and they seem different.

Counteracting

A pair of shoes that hurts must be counteracted with very comfy clothes. The best part of the outfit is the skirt, which is indeed not a skirt, but trousers, and so wide and soft that you can sleep in it ;)

Again, you have to imagine the upper part of the outfit... It is a simple white cotton shirt. Ahh... I love the basics :)

Lazy week

On monday I was already tired and I've been lazy about posting the whole week. It means that my only spare time at home is in front of the computer. And I already spend 10 hours a day in front of a computer... my eyes hurt!! In addition, I keep getting unfocused pictures, and now it's even worse as dawn starts earlier and I should pull down the balcony canopy (native English speakers, is it said like that?)... too much work for a hurry! And as I said before, I was lazy...

Lazy day 1: featuring my new gray tights. I'm not very convinced about them anyway...

Lazy day 2: I'm wearing the lovely striped shirt and van-ish shoes below. Lately I'm loving this cute + casual outfits.

An even windier day today, I was always fearing that my hat would fly away... Spring seemed so close last week and now looks farther than before!

I think it was a bad idea to wrap myself in that scarf before taking the picture... but the tee collar is loose and not a turtleneck as usual, so I really had no choice.

By the descriptions and impressions of some bloggers, it seems Lula is the best magazine ever! I'm quite reluctant to buy fashion magazines because there is always a lot of pages about things that aren't really fashion (restaurants, celebrities... no thanks!), and others seem to command you to wear the current trend, which stresses me a lot... what if I don't like it? Will I be 'out' and rejected??

What I really search for is inspiration, so I thought of giving Lula a go. I've emailed the publishers here in Spain and they will send a copy for me to my nearest press point. It will be delivered on saturday!!

Anniversary

Today, this blog becomes one year old! It started because of a will to dress in a better and more creative way, and though we've not been very constant in publishing (especially my mum), we've been constant in reading and I can say that we have improved our look, so I think we can be proud of the results :)

I thought that a funny pic would be great for today. Some years ago, two friends and I called us a "music band", and we had a lot of fun writing our songs, making videoclips and making up merchandising of us. Yearly, we had a photoshoot for our calendar and included some silly pictures in it. One of our favourite outfits for that was made of toilet paper (don't ask why), and later also of aluminium paper. So here you are, alien outfits for a funny birthday :)

This new hiatus is due to a chain of preparations and events in which I'm into. Yesterday I finally presented my master thesis, and tomorrow I'll be giving my first practice lesson ever. Plus, the new school year is beginning and I must choose my courses (with care, problems and doubts, I must say), decline what I cannot schedule in my week, and find some time to do sports and some leisure activity with my boyfriend. If I'd stop to think about all this, I'd notice I'm so tired, but I have no time to do so!

I guess that as October goes by I'll finish scheduling my week and start the new habbits, so that I can find some time to snap pictures and post them again. In the mean time, I'll try to stop by my favourite people here and leave some comments from time to time :)

A bit cooler now

At the beginning of this month, I spent a few days in the very hot Naples and its surroundings, seeing the high amount of historical remainders that so many cultures left there since ancient times. Here's what I've got for you: in the next picture I'm holding a piece from a (rich) house's wall -- it's from the soft part of the wall, and its conical form allows it to move a little bit so that a (likely) seismic wave looses part of its strenght when it reaches the tough part of the wall, made of standard bricks. Greek people had the idea and later Roman invaders continued using it, this house is at Paestum. (Ok, I know it's hard to see, try enlarging the picture by clicking on it and see the wall in the background, which is made of these).

When I came back home I had to forget my holidays in no time, because this month I present my Master thesis and there were things that I still had to rewrite!! Today I'm doing a short break to post something :)

Autumn is starting to arrive, and these days you look at your wardrobe and see nothing proper to wear, because the breeze is cold but the sun is shining! These are some of my hot-but-cooler outfits of this week:

The T-shirt in the last one is from this summer buys and I especially like it because of (apart from the color and the print) the wonderful sleeves. I tried to take a picture (downwards) of it but I'm afraid it's a bit crappy... I hope you'll guess what I mean! ;)

Heat and red outfit #4

In the time I've been browsing through fashion blogs, I've built an idea that I would like to share to see what you think about it. I've noticed that, in colder countries, it seems that especially Sweeden, it's more common to wear higher hemlines than in warmer countries like Spain, where I live. And I think that it has to do with heat because maybe men are "hotter" in warmer weathers and so girls are more exposed to rude words. I don't know if it happens in other countries too, but here we have a large amount of jokes regarding building workers telling rude flirtatious comments to female passers-by. It's even considered of kind of bad taste to wear a high hemline if you're not really thin. Have you noticed the same? What's your opinion about this? How is it in your country?

Well, taking advantadge of the fact that the building sector is going down, but taking also the risk of having bad taste, some day this week I wore this red miniskirt:

The last days I've been missing because I was spending the weekend with my boyfriend's family. It was delicious to be with such warm people :)

Now, the promised red outfits of the day: I wore this one on a especially hot day last week -- luckily I took the car, otherwise I could've died drowning in my own sweat waiting for the train at 2 p.m.!!

This shirt is now a bit too small for me, but I refuse to give it away because I'm in love with that Chinese style. Both the dragon and the buttoning are fab. <3

Today I wore the outfit below. In the early morning the color combination seemed ok to me, but I should've stopped to look at the whole of it and I would've realised how badly it suits me. I seem to have no shape in it :S

Now I have to continue writing my degree final work, which I have to hand in the next month. At least the Olympic Games are over and I won't be watching the TV every now and then...

I'm back from the campsite and everything went well :) Now I'm wearing 6 thread bangles on my wristle, gifts from kids and others, and hence somehow ready for my real vacation on the beach!! :D

I appreciate your kind comments in the previous post and I must say that though I haven't had the time to comment on yours I've read them all. I'll try to leave some comments before I leave tomorrow.

I'm going to post two outfits from some time ago. I love this summer trend of floral dresses, maybe because of the Mango advertising I could see every morning last spring:

Cruel fate!

You might remember these shoes my mom gave me for my birthday:

I had to change them because they didn't fit my toes' shape. In return, I took this lovely pair:

I fell in love with them, the bows at the back are so cute and the checked inside is a detail I adore. However, my bad luck didn't leave me -- after no more than 5 days, the wedges began to peel off! So, back to the shop, I tried to say goodbye to them, but they refused to let me choose another shoes and only gave me a new pair. No way -- again back to the shop, and finally they gave me back the money.

I'm having a lot of trouble finding shoes this summer, though I have clear ideas of what I want. Maybe that's the problem! For now, I've only managed to get this pretty pair of red sandals:

I've taken some pictures but I've had a really busy time lately and haven't found a moment to post them: I had loads of work to finish before tomorrow, when I'll leave for a fortnight to a camp site. There'll be about a hundred boys and girls. Wish me luck! :)

I know it's been almost a month (wow!), but I've been really unable to post anything. We are finally relocating everyone's rooms at home, and it's taking a lot of time to paint the walls, undo and redo furniture, throw some of it, buy some new... and move all our things from where they were to their new places. For now, my computer is hidden among other stuff and I can only browse through the blogsphere during work breaks.

This is how I'm discovering some blogs and finding out that I'm very into Finnish and French girls' style. In addition to Ranna, Piksi (Finnish), Betty and Alix (French), now you can find in my blogroll these two beautiful ladies: Heidi and Elodie...

A pain in the neck

In the last days I'm kind of obsessed with wearing something around my neck. The variable stupid weather (but not unpredictable: you know it'll rain in the end ¬¬) makes me unsure and having my neck properly covered is what I need to leave the house in the morning.

This red shirt brought a bow brooch with it (the one I'm wearing here), but last saturday I saw at least 3 people wearing it in different colours :S So I thought that replacing the brooch with a big bow around the neck would make a nice change and hopefully it wouldn't look the same... It reminded me of a mix between a child and a painter :)

Now you can see my yellow hairband too! This winter I've been totally into hairbands, and this one is my favourite.

Forecasts say that we'll have more rain until next wednesday at least... I hope it will be sunny from then on!!

Challenges against bad weather

In about a fortnight, Zaragoza Expo'08 is supposed to start. Its theme is WATER. And it seems that Water doesn't want to miss the event, as it's been cloudy and rainy for more than a month. They say that in some regions of Spain, this May will be the most rainy one of the last 137 years. So rainy, that Zaragoza's Expo may not be ready for the planned starting day.

So, as you may imagine, I'm totally bored with bad weather, and longing to loose view of the clothes I've been seeing for more than half a year. I'm already making a wishlist of items I want to buy this summer, but as I'm not even able to wear the dress my sister gave me for my birthday, it's useless to buy anything at all.

Luckily I've used some challenges to give some fun to dressing... The first one, was to make up a spring-ish look with fall/winter colours, as Nadine. This is my idea:

Do you think I got it? For me red, navy and white are winter colours. But, thinking about it again, they're also summer colours. And thinking about it again, apart from grey and black I cannot think of more pure winter colours :P

The next one was breaking a rule - wearing pink and blue together. The Seeker did it greatly, here you see what I wore that day:

... By the way, I've changed my simpsonized face, as the one I used is locked in the stored computer. So today I've just left the eyes so that you can see my change of haircut!

The return

The day I last posted here, my grandfather died. Since then, I wasn't in the mood for making up outfits, so there was nothing special to show. In addition my grandmother moved to our flat, and now she's sleeping in my room and I'm temporarily sleeping on the nested underbed of my sister's, so all our clothes are here and there and nowhere... And what's more my computer is separated into pieces and stored as it was in my room, luckily I've got my brand new laptop to work on it but I haven't installed any photo editing program there yet, so no way to put my simpsonized face on ;) AND this last month is being awfully stressful with lots of works to deliver in no time. After this long story I've just told you, I hope you forgive the lack of posts lately and keep coming back here :)

Last monday was my boyfriend's birthday. On sunday I was invited to his place to have lunch with the whole family, and this is what I wore (sorry for the bad quality...):

As you can see, I have a weakness for black and white combinations, and I always go for it when it's a special occasion or I don't know very well what I'm supposed to wear. Both of which matched perfectly with the invitation (I knew his family would be wearing comfy clothes and slippers, but it was a birthday after all!).

Well, for now it will have to do. I must work on an assignment for today's class :S

Points 1 and 2 are already fulfilled, and now my mum and I are going to answer the third:

My mum can't never ever leave a single thing out of its place.
She always wakes up thirsty at midnight.
She never notices when you are leaving the room, so it's really easy that she speaks to you when you're not even there.

I can't stand when cupboard/cabinet/wardrobe doors are not completely closed.
I usually prefer watching the commercials on TV than the actual program.
... if I can watch TV! I never have time for it and hence I don't follow any series or show.

Birthday!

Last tuesday I became a year older :) Though I spent 12 hours away from home, it was delicious anyway because of my dear partners at university and a wonderful dinner with my family and boyfriend late at night. Besides, it was funny to discover a videoclub which was about to close and selling everything for 1 to 5 euros - I arrived home with a few video-presents for them! :D

Lately I'm not very in the mood for pictures because of the loads and loads of work I have to do in no time, but I took some photos of my presents so that I can share with you :)

My sister gave me this cute summer dress and a matching necklace:

I received these two bags: the green one from some friends and the white one from my mother. I'm so happy with them :)

Also, my boyfriend gave me this special rucksack for my new laptop, which was something I really needed! However, he has taken it away because he's going to change it for a red one.

This little clutch is a gift from the same friends. It is a cosmetics clutch actually!

More beauty: this ticket from my parents counts for a series of laser depilation sessions. Yipeee!! :D

This item is really funny: an extra-mini-dress-like-towel! I'm thinking about taking it to the gym shower...

A pair of stockings from the same friends who gave me the towel, and this pretty shoes. It's a pity I have to return them because they hurt my feet :S

And last but not least, something that will keep me quite entertained: two books! The one of the left is a present from my boyfriend too, and he made me find it by following some clues round my home! It is indeed a mistery novel and it has a notebook attached with some material so that you can work out your way through it :D And the one of the right is Wicked, a gift from two friends who I took to that musical play!

I'm longing to see what this new age has for me :)

High heels

Just another short entry today, because I'm at university right now and tonight there's ball dancing lessons! Besides, I haven't got any proper picture because yesterday was too dark again and today the sun was incomprehensibly bright just in the moment I needed to take the picture :S

The name of her blog is funny for Spanish speakers, because of a quite nasty idiom related to men and referring to bravery - she changes the nasty word for "heels", which indeed are usually very high in most of the pictures!

Ikea skirt

Another rainy day! Today I dressed in my other favourite color: green.

I'm sorry for the bad quality but the clouds were so thick this morning. I'm wearing a black shirt and black patent boots (great for the rain), and green skirt, tights and Portuguese scarf. This skirt is one of my favourite skirts ever. I love the shape, the color, the big black button on the side and the print:

That's why I call it "the Ikea skirt" ;)

Blue mood

Blue skies make me want to dress alike. I don't understand why blue means "sad", for me is brightness and joy :) This is what I wore last thursday for university:

On saturday I dressed in blue again for a birthday party, but it was too dark to take a proper picture.

Today, it was cloudy, windy and rain-smelling, and it started to rain in the afternoon. I tried to fight the grey atmosphere and my own tiredness of a whole weekend full of work with some bright mustard. So this was my outfit:

It's funny this relationship I always stablish between weather - mood - colors... Does weather influence in your outfit's color too?

Longer days are great! Finally I have a place where I can take a picture when I get up in the morning :)

Ok, maybe too much light now... I'll try something for the next time.

I love blue and grey, and this was my outfit for a highly optimistic day! After the yellow tights I couldn't resist buying a blue pair, and though it turned out to be a weird balloon-like blue I'm very happy because I have lots of blue shirts to combine - as I noticed when I bought this one some days ago.

By the way, the ribbon brooch is made by me - two strings and a safety pin is all that's needed!

I'm not dead

Nor even in the hide. I've been away (away = Austria) for almost two weeks, and then really full of work. Volunteering stuff on weekends doesn't help, either. So I find really difficult to post something, as I'm at home only to sleep at night. This makes me think about the aim of this blog -- most of times I don't take pictures because I want them to have a proper quality, so that I can show them here, and in the end this means that the blog is not making me be constant in taking pictures but all the way round.

However, I tend to have a maternal feeling towards things I create, and I don't feel like "killing" this blog. I'm thinking about giving it a change of purpose, so that I can post brief things without having to take a proper picture. I have to give it a second thought, anyway.

But for now, I want to show you a few things I have received/bought lately and which I'm very happy about :)

First, this cap. I almost bought it in Graz, but fortunately I didn't, because it was waiting for me at home! My boyfriend's sister gave it to me as a present :)

This one I bought it myself because I'm starting aerobic lessons and I wanted (needed!) a beautiful sports bag to carry my sports things all day long. I really like this bag: beautiful, perfect size and easy to clean.

The best purchase of the year: these two pairs of shoes for only 26 euros! The red ankle boots are made of leather and only cost 20 euros; the navy flats have a little fault and that's why they were so cheap! I love late sales :)

After the whole winter I'm fed up with dark colors and I'm longing for spring to arrive! These sunny days were like a promise of warmth and light, and I couldn't resist to buy these yellow tights the moment I saw them.

I hope spring doesn't make us wait for very long :)

Inspiration comes from...

This week has been awfully stressing, with a lot of work and few sleep hours. This means I wasn't in the mood of taking pictures during the whole week (though I think my mother did, I have to check that). To put an end to the blogging silence, I think it's time to present some sources of inspiration:

Strawberry Kitten - Hers was the first style blog I found and I got addicted to it because a lot of her clothes are made by her. When I was younger I liked to sew my own clothes (I still do, but unluckily I don't have so much time as then). Anyway, I just love her style and I'm learning a lot from her.

Le blog de Betty - I hardly understand what she says but there is no need as her pictures are so self-explained. I admire how she creates several different looks from the same base clothes by adding others.

Only Shallow - Lovely girl with a very personal style. Fresh air for me, that I'm used to see something very different here.

The Clothes Horse - Another girl with her very own style, I don't even know if it would fit me but I like a lot her thoughts about fashion and style :)

Bonus track: Searching the inner me... - My mother gives her special vote to The Seeker and her taste for combinig colors.

Weekend

Last weekend I was ill with a cold, so I chosed black for my outfits because I feel more confident wearing it.

This is what I wore on saturday for going to the cinema with my boyfriend. Unluckily, it was crowded with people and by the time we reached the ticket office the film I wanted to see had already started.

I'm wearing my cute white high heels, very in the shape of those 50s shoes. It was love at first sight but they're not comfortable at all, so I normally use them when I'm not supposed to be standing for a long time.

On sunday morning I wore this LBD, which is a gift from my mom. Really comfortable and versatile :)

And by the way, how do you feel about black?

Introduction

Today I'm gonna introduce us :) The quality of the pictures is surely the worst you've ever seen, but we couldn't do better in the darkness of the early morning at home. I have to find a way to take better pictures without having to install a spotlight and big white panes in our living room.

So, this is my mom in her outfit of yesterday:

Pretty, isn't she? ;) I even can't remember the exact colors, but I'd bet the pullover and the boots where dark brown, and the trousers were light brown.

And this is me:

Here again, the colours are a bit difficult to see, but the turtleneck and the socks are cotton grey, and my jeans are dark navy and not black.

I promise better pictures for the next time!

During a quite long time, I felt really bored about my clothes. In fact, it was not my clothes, but my way of wearing them. That's why I started looking at some fashion blogs, most of them really inspiring.

Then, I knew my mother was feeling the same, and she proposed to take pictures of us so as to have a more accurate look of us and to choose better our outfits.

So the idea of this blog is not so much to show our "wonderful" style to other people, as to force us to keep taking pictures! Also, I think is a good way of gathering and commenting a lot of inspiration sources I find in the web.

Finally, why English? Well, I don't know... I think English is used by many people, and almost all the style blogs I read are in English, so why not? :)
