In the time I've been browsing through fashion blogs, I've built an idea that I would like to share to see what you think about it. I've noticed that, in colder countries, it seems that especially Sweeden, it's more common to wear higher hemlines than in warmer countries like Spain, where I live. And I think that it has to do with heat because maybe men are "hotter" in warmer weathers and so girls are more exposed to rude words. I don't know if it happens in other countries too, but here we have a large amount of jokes regarding building workers telling rude flirtatious comments to female passers-by. It's even considered of kind of bad taste to wear a high hemline if you're not really thin. Have you noticed the same? What's your opinion about this? How is it in your country?
Well, taking advantadge of the fact that the building sector is going down, but taking also the risk of having bad taste, some day this week I wore this red miniskirt:
I'm sorry about the bad picture, the camera was in a bad mood that day and this is the only worthy photo it took! I would've liked to show that the top has a bow at the back, from the black ribbon under the breast area.

I don't know Swedish bloggers actually get a lot of flack online for high hemlines. And we have construction worker steretypes like that here too. I think it's really unfair that certain looks are okay for thinner people and not larger people. That is just size-ist!
P.S. The print on your dress is really cute and the cartoon eyes are quite fun!
The Clothes Horse: Yes, it's size-ist, but even though that, I think that clothes should make us look good (in addition to other aspects) and for very very fat women I wouldn't find it ok anyway...
Thank you for commenting and your kind words about my picture. The top is really cute, if only I could've posted the details :)
Teenagers in Germany often wear really short skirts - in "richer" cities girls also do and think this is really sexy - I disagree. Nobody says anything and the men seem to be happy - but you've get rude comments for shorts with tights or anything more fashionable.
I really like your dress!
I think that it must have good sense in what one wears. I think it's always a matter of looking good.
(But I'm an old lady ;) )
And you look lovely with the top and the skirt.
xoxo
Nadine: I can't stand people being rude. You may not like what other people are wearing, but why not keeping your likes or dislikes to you? Creativity often dies because of the fear to this.
My dress is in fact a top, it's too short to wear it alone! Someday I'll wear it again, I like it a lot :)
The Seeker: I agree with you, I believe fashion is meant to look good, at least as much as a way of expression.
Thanks for your sweet words :)
that's an interestin debate here !! i like that analysis
MR style: Great, but what do you think about that? :)
Yeah! it is the same with builders here! I think it's such a stereotype, they feel the need to live up to it! The outfit looks great, I thought it was a dress at first, so cute
Haha, maybe you're right!
Thank you :)
i guess if a gal feels comfortable wearing short skirt regardless of her size then she is welcome to do so. only she need to feel beautiful in her own mind. but, i know it is true people will comment at time and i for me am guilty sometimes too!
